Why I picked them

“I featured Recipe Restore because the idea is simple and worth testing: the food stories families already have should be easier to preserve and share. If the October card helps one person pull a recipe box off the shelf and start asking who made what, it has already done something useful.”

Recipe Restore

The best family recipes rarely begin in a polished cookbook. They live on index cards with soft corners, notebook pages marked by a favorite meal, or a photo someone texted because everybody wanted the recipe. Those imperfect originals are part of the story, but they can be hard to organize, easy to misplace, and difficult to share with the rest of the family.

Recipe Restore is built around a simple idea: keep the originals where they belong and give the recipes a second home. Families provide photos of handwritten cards, typed recipes, or notes for 50 favorites. Recipe Restore then brings them together in one designed PDF cookbook. There is no need to mail irreplaceable cards, and the finished digital copy can be kept on a device or shared with relatives.

Almost every family has a version of that shoebox. The cake that showed up at every birthday, the Sunday dinner nobody wrote down quite the same way, and the dish everyone associates with one person deserve more than a stack that only one relative can see. The October Spotlight marks the first public test of the idea. The preview offer is 50 recipes in one PDF cookbook for $79. The website is live to explore, but ordering, recipe uploads, and payment are not open yet.

What the cookbook includes

  • 50 family recipes
  • Handwritten cards preserved from photos
  • Typed recipes and family notes
  • One designed PDF cookbook
  • A digital copy to keep and share
  • Original recipe cards stay with the family

Recipe Restore works from photos, so original cards stay with the family. The current cookbook examples are illustrative, and ordering is not open yet.

These sample layouts show the intended digital cookbook format. A family's finished book would begin with its own recipes and stories.
