If you need to know how to cancel your Townsquare Interactive contract, you cannot do it by replying to an email, texting your account rep, or disputing the charge with your bank. Under Townsquare's official Terms of Service, terminating core services requires a direct phone call to their Support Desk: before a strict billing cutoff.
Below: the verified support phone number, the exact cancellation deadline (and the weekend cutoff trap), and the four assets to audit before you dial so your website, phone lines, and Google ranking do not go dark.
Townsquare Interactive Cancellation Policy, Phone Number, and Cutoff Times
You must call the Townsquare Interactive Support Desk directly to cancel core marketing services:
- Support Desk Phone: (855) 463-5490
- Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST
- The Billing Cutoff: Submit notice no later than 6:00 PM EST on the business day immediately prior to your next billing date.
- The Weekend and Holiday Trap: If your billing date falls on a Sunday or a federal holiday, your notice is due by 6:00 PM EST on the preceding business day (usually Friday). Call Monday morning and you are billed for the next month.
Sending an email to techsupport@townsquareinteractive.com or your sales rep does not count as official termination for core marketing services. You must call.
(Note: If you have a standalone Townsquare Hosting agreement, that separate agreement allows cancellation by phone or email, but requires 30 days' advance notice).
3 Townsquare Interactive Contract Terms to Know Before Calling
1. Townsquare Interactive Website Ownership and Export Rules
Townsquare's contract splits "Client-Furnished Material" (your logo, photos, and raw copy) from "Townsquare-Furnished Material" (the code, layout, and CMS templates). Townsquare owns 100% of the design, software, and templates. When billing stops, the website comes down. Under their terms, you can request a Website Assets Export containing your supplied images, text, and form submissions, but you cannot export the website code, design, or theme itself.
2. The Initial Term Commitment in Your Order
Check your original signed Order form. If a commitment period was specified, Townsquare enforces billing through the end of that period. If no commitment period was specified on your Order, their terms establish an Initial Term of one month.
3. Domain Name Custody and Registrar Access
If Townsquare registered your domain on your behalf, it may be managed under their registrar account. Their terms allow domains to be released upon request, but you should initiate that transfer before terminating service so your live web presence does not stall between providers.
The 4-Step Pre-Cancellation Checklist for Townsquare Clients
Do not call the (855) number until you have checked these four items:
Step 1: Identify your domain registrar.
Use ICANN Lookup (lookup.icann.org) to identify where your domain is registered. If you control the registrar account directly (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google/Squarespace), log in, ensure your contact email is current, unlock the domain, and copy your EPP authorization code. If Townsquare manages the registrar account, request the transfer authorization code before giving notice of cancellation.
Step 2: Audit your Google Business Profile permissions.
Search for your business name on Google while logged into your Google account. Click the three dots menu (More) → Business Profile settings → People and access. Confirm that your personal email is listed as the Primary Owner. If Townsquare is listed as Primary Owner, transfer primary ownership to yourself first. Managers cannot add or remove users or transfer ownership, so canceling while listed only as a Manager leaves your profile permissions vulnerable.
Step 3: Check for tracking phone numbers.
Check the phone number displayed on your live website against your actual direct business line. If your website or directory citations route calls through a call tracking or forwarding number, make sure you have your real destination line documented so customer calls do not fail once third-party routing is disconnected.
Step 4: Request your Website Assets Export.
Because the website code and design will not transfer, submit a request for your Website Assets Export (your text, uploaded images, and form submission history) so you have your data ready for your next site.
The Cancellation Call Script for Townsquare Support
When you call (855) 463-5490, keep the conversation direct:
"Hello, my name is [Your Name] with [Business Name]. My account number is [Number]. I am calling to issue formal notice of contract cancellation, effective at the end of my current billing cycle. I am not looking to adjust my tier, pause billing, or review promotional offers. Please process the termination of core services now and send written email confirmation of this cancellation to [Your Email] while I remain on the line."
Rule: Remain on the line until written confirmation arrives in your inbox. Note the representative's name, the date, and the time of the call.
